Dear Animal Care Workers,

I admire you. I am not sure that I could ever express the admiration I have for your work. You care for the helpless. You speak for the speechless. More importantly, you expect nothing in retrurn. You are often underappreciated. The animals that you help cannot thank you but I want to take time to tell you how special you are. Without you the world would not be the same. Life is precious. I know that you are reminded of this daily. You see pain. You feel pain and you provide comfort. I hope that you never take your work lightly. You touch the lives of animals that some would see as a lost cause. You provide human contact and warmth to the abandoned. Each of you put in every ounce of effort to make changes. You have first hand experience of the cruelty in the world, yet you have decided to take it on help precious victims.

Today is your day! Your exhaustion is ignored. You may be drained mentally, physically, and spiritually. As you help others, I want you to know that you are worthy of compassion. You are worthy of rest. Your temple must remain strong as you conquer the world's problems. As I thank you, I want you to know that I can thank you on the behalf of all of the lives you have touched and I hope that these resources help you. You deserve it!

Sincerly,

Kristen LeMoon

About Me

My name is Kristen. I developed this website in conjunction with training materials as project for a social change course. Duquesne University encourages their students to become actively involved in social leadership. Rather than traditional volunteerism, permanent social change is promoted.

I will obtain my Bachelors in Behavioral Science in December 2014. While I am engaged in behavioral science, I have also taken several courses related to humane leadership. My love for animals has compelled me to help those that deserve more recognition. Compassion fatigue is an issue that desrves attention. My hope is that compassion fatigue training will become available to every animal care provider.
